Ryan is a partner in our Fredericton office.  Ryan received his Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Law from the University of New Brunswick in 1999 and 2005, respectively.

Ryan is a member of Cox & Palmer’s litigation group, practicing mainly in the areas of insurance defense, municipal liability, professional liability, personal injury and construction.  He has been lead counsel at all levels of New Brunswick Courts. Recent decisions include Fidler v. Province of New Brunswick, 2022 NBCA 1; Haley Stewart v. Kyle Brewer et al., 2020 NBQB 255; Laboratoires C.O.P. Inc. v. New Brunswick College of Pharmacists, 2020 NBCA 74; and Barrett v. City of Fredericton et al., 2020 NBCA 63.

Ryan is a regular speaker at the New Brunswick Bar Admission course in Insurance Law and Civil Litigation. He was recognized in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as a leading practitioner in Commercial Insurance Litigation and was listed in the publication the Best Lawyers of Canada as a leading practitioner in Corporate and Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law and Product Liability Law.

Experience

  • Lead counsel at all levels of New Brunswick Courts and representing clients in the areas of professional liability, municipal law, environmental claims, personal injury and coverage.
  • Counsel for insurers on subrogated claims, as well as defence counsel on various claims involving remediation of contaminated sites, including petroleum leaks of personal fuel storage tanks and large commercial bulk storage facilities.
