John Taylor-Hood

John is Counsel in Cox & Palmer’s St. John’s office and enjoys a varied general practice, with a focus on civil litigation and municipal law.

In 2024 and 2025, John was listed in The Best Lawyers^™ in Canada for his work in municipal law. A seasoned litigator, John has handled all manner of matters and claims, including insurance defence, corporate commercial litigation, construction law, contract disputes, and real property claims. He has appeared before all levels of Court in Newfoundland and Labrador, including Provincial Court, Supreme Court General Division, and the Court of Appeal.

John holds a Master of Arts in History and graduated from the University of New Brunswick Faculty of Law. He was admitted to the Bar of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2003. When not in the office, he can generally be found hiking, skiing or snowshoeing in the backwoods of Newfoundland, or else floating off the coast in a bright red sea kayak.
