Joy brings a rich background in law, having gained extensive experience as in-house counsel and an associate professor at Saint Mary’s University in the Philippines before relocating to Canada in 2021.

Committed to continuing her legal career in Canada, Joy enrolled in the Legal Administration Program to remain active in the legal field. She worked as a legal assistant at McLellan Brennan Hrga and continued in that role following the firm’s merger with Cox & Palmer.

In 2023, Joy earned her Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, successfully completing all required examinations. She commenced her Articling at Cox & Palmer in May 2024 under the mentorship of Jeffrey H. Leard, while concurrently completing the Bar Admission Course through the Law Society of Prince Edward Island. Joy was called to the Bar of Prince Edward Island on May 20, 2025.

Joy currently maintains a general practice, with a growing interest in real estate, estates and trusts, and family law.

Outside the office, Joy has a deep interest in history and enjoys reading historical literature and exploring museums, ancient sites, and historical ruins.
