Congratulations Athar K. Malik, youngest editor-in-chief of the Canadian Intellectual Property Review
Cox & Palmer congratulates Athar K. Malik on his recent appointment as the editor-in-chief of the Canadian Intellectual Property Review (CIPR). Athar is an intellectual property lawyer and registered trade-mark agent based in our Saint John office.
CIPR is a double-blind peer reviewed journal that has been published since 1984 to share knowledge within and outside the Canadian intellectual property profession. Athar’s appointment makes him both the youngest and 7th editor of the journal. CIPR is published by the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), the Canadian professional association for intellectual property lawyers, patent agents and trade-mark agents, and is distributed to over 1,700 members.
Athar’s appointment reflects his involvement in the intellectual property profession in Canada and the esteem in which he is held. He also serves on IPIC’s Litigation Committee and its Trade-mark Legislation Committee and on the International Trademark Association’s Publications Committee. He has presented and written extensively on intellectual property topics. Athar is a member of Cox & Palmer’s IP Group and is the co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group in New Brunswick. His practice emphasizes trade-mark, copyright and general intellectual property matters, and also extends to all forms of intellectual property licensing.
