We are seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join our St. John’s team who will provide legal administrative support to our lawyers.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Working as part of a collaborative team, your primary responsibilities include:

  • Accurate preparation of correspondence and legal documents;
  • Processing large volumes of documents, with ability to use technology to store and organize emails and files diligently;
  • Professional verbal and written communications with lawyers, clients and team members;
  • Meeting deadlines, multi-tasking and prioritizing incoming requests;
  • Establishing and maintaining a calendar and reminder system for multiple lawyers;
  • Creating and maintaining a filing system; opening and closing files in a timely manner;
  • Performing conflict searches, external searches, and processing client intake forms;
  • Preparing statements of account and lawyer expense claims; and
  • Other related administrative duties as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Successful completion of an Office/Legal Administration program (or equivalent)
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience working as an Office Assistant. Preference will be given to those with related Legal Assistant experience;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required,
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative;
  • Detail oriented, strong organizational and time management stills are essential.
