Terri C. Higdon

Terri Higdon is an associate lawyer at the St. John’s office of Cox & Palmer. Originally from Trinity Bay, she obtained a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Memorial University before pursuing her Bachelor of Laws degree and Health Law and Policy Specialization from Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law. She was called to the Newfoundland and Labrador Bar in 2011 and has worked with Cox & Palmer since that time. Terri has advised and represented individuals to large corporations in relation to civil litigation, employment and access to information matters and her writing has been published or cited by numerous legal publications. She has appeared before all levels of Court in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as before the Federal Court of Appeal. Terri retains her nursing license (non-practicing) and finds her education and experience as a nurse to be invaluable to her personal injury practice.

Terri’s primary practice areas are insurance and personal injury law, as well as other civil litigation.


Terri’s legal experience includes:

  • Commencing and defending personal injury and other claims
  • Negotiating contract terms and settlements
  • Providing legal advice regarding employment, human rights and labour law issues
  • Assisting with and advising on workplace investigations
  • Drafting employment and other contracts
  • Conducting legal research on a broad array of legal topics
