Ryan Butler

Ryan maintains a busy litigation practice in our St. John’s office which is primarily focused on insurance defence. He has extensive experience in medical malpractice defence, professional liability, regulatory/administrative law, real estate transactions and property law.

Ryan earned his Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia in 2019, after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature in 2015. He was called to the Bar of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2020, where he then worked at a medium sized firm in St. John’s before joining Cox & Palmer in 2023. He is currently on the Board of Directors with the Community Sector Council NL.

Outside the firm, Ryan enjoys spending time with his dogs, Butters and Simon, and his wife, Tamara. He can be found at a variety of local restaurants, or in the dojo practicing BJJ.
