BIO

Ryan is an associate lawyer in Charlottetown’s Cox & Palmer office. Ryan was called to the New Brunswick bar in 2016 and practiced in Fredericton, New Brunswick until he and his family moved to the Island in 2018. Ryan has focused his practice almost exclusively to family law and has gained a diverse experience that helps him compose creative solutions tailored to his client’s individual needs.

As a husband and father of four Ryan understands that every family has a unique and diverse set of needs. He understands the complex dynamics that are involved in family relationships and is adept at helping navigate the stressful and emotionally charged period that results from a relationship breakdown.

Ryan’s clients appreciate his compassionate, client first approach. He works with his clients to develop focused strategies and solutions that fit each client’s specific needs and circumstances.

Ryan has represented clients in a large variety of situations. He has assisted in negotiating settlements of difficult custody, child support and spousal support issues, handled the division of property and pensions for high net worth individuals and represented parents seeking the ability to move out of province with their children. Ryan has also been engaged on complicated child support matters involving self-employed individuals, handled a number of adoptions, successfully pursued custodial rights on behalf of grandparents and represented parents with regard to child protection matters.

Having appeared before both the Supreme Court and Provincial Court of Prince Edward Island as well as the Court of Queen’s Bench of New Brunswick in numerous judicial districts across the province, Ryan is well versed in pursuing a favourable result for his clients from the Court, should it be required.

Ryan has volunteered his time with the YMCA speaking on the topics of child custody, access and support as well as co-presenting a talk on wills and estates for retiring veterans at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown.
