Melanie is an associate lawyer in the Charlottetown office of Cox & Palmer. She earned a Juris Doctor at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2018 and was called to the Prince Edward Island Bar in 2019. Prior to law school, Melanie obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) at the University of Prince Edward Island (2015).
Melanie practices in a variety of areas including general and civil litigation, insurance litigation, family law, municipal law, corporate and commercial law, estate planning and commercial and residential real estate law. She enjoys getting to know her clients and collaborating to develop efficient and practical solutions to their legal issues.
She has appeared before the Provincial Court and the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island as well as Administrative Tribunals such as the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission. She has experience representing and advising clients in relation to purchasing and selling commercial and residential real estate, purchasing and selling of operating business, and represents individuals, municipalities, companies, banks, insurers and professionals in litigation, corporate and commercial, and estate planning matters.
Born and raised in Charlottetown, Melanie is an active member of the community and serves on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics PEI, the Board for Motionball and on the Board of Directors for the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce.
