Kelcie is an associate lawyer in our Halifax office. She maintains a diverse litigation practice, with a focus on health law and medical defence, commercial litigation, and insurance defence. She also has a keen interest in municipal law.
Kelcie first joined Cox & Palmer as a summer law student in 2016. She went on to article with the firm and was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2019. Before returning as an associate in 2020, Kelcie completed a one-year judicial clerkship at the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal. From her time with the Court, she brings sharp research and analytical skills, and a valuable perspective on the judicial decision-making process.
Originally from Nova Scotia, Kelcie earned her law degree from the University of New Brunswick in 2018, graduating with the highest level of distinction. While in law school, she received numerous academic awards and scholarships, including the course prizes in civil procedure, corporate law, tax, and criminal law.
Experience
- Kelcie manages and assists with a range of litigation matters. Her experience includes contractual disputes, professional liability claims, challenges to government action, and matters involving property damage and personal injury. She has successfully represented clients in contested motions, applications, and trials at many levels of Court in Nova Scotia. Kelcie also has experience in municipal planning matters and has successfully brought appeals to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.
- Kelcie acts as counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association and its member physicians throughout Nova Scotia, in both civil and regulatory matters.
