Cox & Palmer’s “Cox & Palmer Cares” Volunteer Initiative Announces New Charity Partner for 2024 to Further Strengthen Community Impact Amid Housing Crisis
Cox & Palmer, a leading law firm in Atlantic Canada, is thrilled to announce an exciting development in its ongoing commitment to community service through the “Cox & Palmer Cares” volunteer initiative which launched last year. The initiative was recognized for having an exceptional number of employees engaged in its inaugural year. In 2023, they had over 100 employees actively engaged in community service projects requiring “peoplepower”, totaling over 300 volunteer hours and funding upwards of 50 grants across the province.
This Spring, Cox & Palmer is proud to be partnering with Habitat for Humanity under the United Way umbrella, further amplifying its efforts to make a significant impact across New Brunswick, amidst the current housing crisis. For the first time, Cox & Palmer will take on not one, but three home builds across the province of New Brunswick.
“It is vital that we all work together to address the affordable housing crisis in our province and throughout our country,” says Perry Kendall, CEO of Habitat for Humanity New Brunswick. We are thankful to Cox & Palmer for their commitment to support our efforts to improve living situations for families in need of affordable, suitable housing”.
The three home builds, located in Saint John, Fredericton, and Moncton, will provide much-needed housing opportunities for families facing housing insecurity. Cox & Palmer employees will roll up their sleeves and work alongside skilled tradespeople, volunteers, and future homeowners to bring these projects to fruition.
“We are thrilled to embark on this journey from beginning to end, in the cities where we work and live. It’s a win-win to provide employees the opportunity to go out in teams and witness first-hand the effort and difference we can make,” says Edward Keyes, Managing Partner at Cox & Palmer New Brunswick. “By actively participating in every stage of the construction process, from groundbreaking to painting and landscaping, we aim to demonstrate our firm’s unwavering commitment to community and hopefully inspiring others as well.”
Upon completion, Cox & Palmer along with Habitat for Humanity, will proudly present the keys to these homes to the families who will benefit from this initiative.
