Cox & Palmer New Brunswick Lawyers Appointed to King’s Counsel

Congratulations to Duane McAfee, Jade Spalding and Stéphanie Luce, lawyers in our New Brunswick offices, who have received the Kings Counsel Designation, as announced today by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.

The King’s Counsel designation is awarded each year to a select group of lawyers for their outstanding service, dedication, and commitment to the legal profession. For Duane, Jade and Stéphanie, this designation acknowledges their professional integrity, dedication and the esteem in which they are held by their peers.

Duane is a Partner in our Saint John office. Duane’s skills are demonstrated through his practice in corporate and commercial law, estates and trusts, corporate finance and real estate law. Duane has been involved in his community, and with advocacy groups, including KV Food Basket Inc., KV Fields Committee and the Vestry of St Augustine’s Church to name a few. He is consistently recognized in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as a leading practitioner in Corporate Commercial Law and Property Development Law.

Jade is a Partner in our Fredericton office. His legal career has been dedicated to representing the interests of insurers and institutional clients in New Brunswick. Jade’s practice includes defending claims under automobile, homeowner, disability, commercial general liability and professional liability policies. He was named Fredericton Insurance Lawyer of the Year by The Best Lawyers™ in Canada for 2014, 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024.

Stéphanie, a lawyer in our Moncton office, is fluently bilingual and has more than 20 years’ experience working in insurance defence, administrative law and privacy law. She is listed by The Best Lawyers™ in Canada for Insurance Law. Stéphanie is a key volunteer with the Law Society of New Brunswick, focusing on supporting its admission program as well as leading on the issue of bilingualism. She is in the last stages of pursuing a Master of Laws degree (LLM), offering a fieldwork-based thesis on the topic of harassment by neighbours.
