We have an immediate opening for a Fishing/Corporate Paralegal in Prince County. This position is permanent full time.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide support to the firm’s fishing clients by assisting in all aspects of file (i.e.. NOLS Account, Purchasing and Selling Licences, boats, gear and equipment, etc.);
  • Complete incorporations, amendments, continuances, amalgamations, dissolutions and revivals of Provincial and Federal entities;
  • Prepare and submit applications to Aquaculture (requests to assign, requests to mortgage, purchase and sale agreements, bills of sale, subleases, searches and financial requirements necessary);
  • Prepare and file Department of Fisheries documents;
  • Complete necessary searches for transaction;
  • Process due diligence requests;
  • Prepare and file PPSA registrations, Marine Mortgages, Lease Hold Mortgages;
  • Review and maintain corporate minute books;
  • Complete fishing rollover upon request;
  • Record billable and non-billable time.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent proficiency in English, verbal and written communication;
  • 1-2 years of experience working in a professional office environment;
  • Office Administration, Legal Assistant and/or Paralegal diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution is an asset;
  • Above average proficiency in Microsoft applications and typing skills;
  • Excellent proofreading, spelling and grammar skills;
  • Attention to detail is a must as well as strong organization and time management skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, meet tight deadlines, as well as multi-task as needed; and
  • Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in the Fishing Industry;
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Cox & Palmer provides a competitive compensation and benefits package including:

  • Compensation – $40,000 – $55,000 which is determined based on experience;
  • Firm paid Health, Dental, and Life insurance plans;
  • RSP with employer matching contributions;
  • An annual Health and Fitness Allowance.
